Driptane Indications
Urinary incontinence, compelling urge or frequent urination with bladder function instability due to neurogenic bladder dysfunction (detrusor hyperreflexia), which occurs in diseases such as multiple sclerosis and spina bifida, or due to idiopathic detrusor instability functions (Motor urgent urinary incontinence).
Also used to control hyperactive bladder that occurs after surgery for bladder or prostate gland or with concomitant cystitis.
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the other components of the drug;
- myasthenia gravis;
- glaucoma or shallow anterior chamber of the eye;
- patients with fever or if high ambient temperature, due to the risk of provoking hyperpyrexia;
- child age of 5 years;
- oesophageal dysfunction, including hiatal hernia;
- functional or organic gastrointestinal obstruction, including pyloric stenosis, paralytic ileus, intestinal atony;
- ileostomiyeyu patients, colostomy, toxic megacolon; severe ulcerative colitis;
-patients with urinary tract obstruction where urinary retention may worsen, such as prostate hypertrophy
Dosage & Administration
The drug is applied orally. The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.
Adults
The usual dose - 5 mg 2-3 times a day. The dose can be increased to the maximum - 5 mg 4 times a day - for the clinical effect provided tolerability of side effects.
Elderly patients
The dosage must be increased, so is recommended dose of 2.5 mg 2 times a day, particularly for frail patients. The dose can be increased to 5 mg 2 times daily for clinical effect provided good tolerability of side effects.
Children from 5 years
Neurogenic bladder instability, nocturnal enuresis, the usual dose is 2.5 mg two times a day. The dose can be increased to 5 mg 2-3 times daily for clinical effect provided good tolerability of side effects. In nocturnal enuresis last dose should be taken at bedtime.
