Dosage & Administration

Diovan can be used regardless of the meal, the tablet should be taken with water.
Arterial Hypertension
Hypertension of adults (80 mg tablet, 160 mg and 320 mg). The recommended starting dose of valsartan is 80 mg 1 time per day. The antihypertensive effect is achieved within 2 weeks, and the maximum effect - after 4 weeks. Some patients not adequately controlled blood pressure with a dose can be increased up to 160 mg, and the maximum - 320 mg.
Diovan can be used with other antihypertensive agents. The combined use of diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide will decrease blood pressure even further in these patients.
Hypertension of children
Children over the age of 6 years. The initial dose is 40 mg once a day for children weighing <35 kg and 80 mg 1 time per day for children weighing ≥35 kg. It is necessary to correct the dose based on blood pressure.

Contradictions
