Calcium gluconate Indications
Inadequate parathyroid gland function, elevated calcium intake from the body (in particular, with prolonged dehydration) as an adjunct to allergic diseases (whey disease, urticaria, angioedema) and allergic complications of medication therapy, to reduce vascular permeability in pathological processes of a variety of genesis (exudative phase of inflammatory process, hemorrhagic vasculitis, radiation illness); with parenchymal hepatitis, toxic lesions of the liver, nephritis, eclampsia, hypercalemic form of paroxysmal myoplagia, skin diseases (skin pruritus, eczema, psoriasis), as a hemostatic agent, as well as an antidote for magnesium salts, oxalic acid or its soluble salts , soluble salts of fluoric acid.
Contradictions
Propensity to thrombosis, hypercalcemia, pronounced atherosclerosis, increased blood coagulation.
Dosage & Administration
Intravenous or intramuscularly, adults and children over 14 years of age are injected 5-10 ml Calcium gluconate daily, one day or two days, depending on the nature of the disease and the condition of the patient.
The ampoule with solution is warmed up to the body temperature before administration. The solution is injected slowly, for 2-3 minutes.
Children. Intravenously, depending on age, 10% solution of calcium gluconate is administered in the following doses: at the age of 6 months - 0.1-1 ml, 6-12 months - 1-1.5 ml, 1-3 years - 1, 5-2 ml, 4-6 years - 2-2,5 ml, 7-14 years - 3-5 ml.
To administer a solution in an amount of less than 1 ml, a single dose is brought to a suitable volume (syringe volume) of 0.9% isotonic sodium chloride solution or 5% glucose solution.
