Cefotaxime Indications
Infections caused by susceptible microorganisms to the drug:
- Infections ear, nose, throat (tonsillitis, otitis)
- Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy, abscesses)
- Infections of the genitourinary system
- Septicemia, bacteremia
- Intra-abdominal infections (including peritonitis)
- Infections of skin and soft tissues
- Infections of bones and joints
- Meningitis (except listeriosis) and other infections of the CNS
- Prevention of infections after surgery in gastrointestinal, urological and obstetrical operations
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics and other beta-lactam antibiotics,
- hypersensitivity to lidocaine (intramuscular injection);
- bleeding enterocolitis in history (especially ulcerative colitis);
- pregnancy, lactation.
AV-blockade without driver set heart rate, severe heart failure.
Intramuscular contraindicated in children under the age of 2.5 years.
Dosage & Administration
Before applying prepartatu necessary to conduct skin tests for portability.
Cefotaxime BCPP is administered intramuscular and intravenous bolus and infusion.
