Dosage & Administration

Bupivacaine-cancer should be administered only doctor with experience in regional anesthesia or under his supervision. It should use the lowest dose that can achieve a sufficient degree of anesthesia.

It is important to follow special precautions including careful aspiration to prevent accidental intravascular injection. When epidural anesthesia should enter a test dose of 3-5 ml of bupivacaine with epinephrine as intravascular injection of adrenaline quickly leads to faster heart rate. Within 5 minutes after administration of the test dose should maintain verbal contact with the patient and carry out periodic checks heart rate. In addition, it is necessary to aspirate before entering the total dose to be administered slowly, at a speed of 25-50 mg / min, gradually, maintaining constant contact with the patient. If you experience symptoms of intoxication the drug should be stopped immediately.

The following are the recommended dose. Dosage should be adjusted depending on the blockade and the general condition of the patient.

For infiltration anesthesia should be administered 5-30 ml bupivacaine-cancer 5 mg / ml (25-150 mg bupivacaine hydrochloride).

For intercostal blockade should be administered 2-3 ml of bupivacaine-cancer 5 mg / ml (10-15 mg bupivacaine hydrochloride) one nerve to the total of 10 nerves.

For large nerve blockade (eg, epidural, and sacral plexus anesthesia shoulder) should be administered 15-30 mL bupivacaine-cancer 5 mg / ml (75-150 mg bupivacaine hydrochloride).
