Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to brimonidine tartrate or to other components of the drug.
Children's age (up to 18 years).
In patients treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOs) as well as antidepressants that affect noradrenergic transmission (eg, tricyclic antidepressants and mianserin).
Dosage & Administration
It is recommended to apply 1 drop of brimonidine to the affected eye (s) 2 times a day, with a break of about 12 hours. No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients. As with other eye drops, to reduce the likelihood of penetration of brimonidine into the blood and lymphatic system, immediately after instillation of the drug is recommended to press and hold for 1 minute the lacrimal sac in the inner corner of the eye (pressing the lacrimal point). This action should be performed immediately after the introduction of each drop.
In the case of the use of more than one ophthalmic drug for topical use, it is recommended to observe breaks between their use of at least 5 - 15 minutes.
