GANCICLOVIR Indications

Ganciclovir-Farmex is indicated for adults and adolescents ≥ 12 years of age for:

- treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in patients with immunodeficiency;

- prevention of CMV infection by preventive therapy in patients with drug immunosuppression (eg, after organ transplantation or cancer chemotherapy).

Ganciclovir-Farmex is also indicated for children from birth for:

- prevention of CMV infection by universal prophylaxis in patients with drug immunosuppression (eg, after organ transplantation or cancer chemotherapy).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ganciclovir, valganciclovir or to any other component of the drug.

Breast-feeding.

Dosage & Administration

The solution obtained by diluting the sterile powder is intended for intravenous administration only, preferably using a plastic cannula and intravenously with adequate blood flow. Rapid or bolus intravenous injections should not be used. Ganciclovir toxicity may increase due to excessive plasma levels. Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of the drug may cause severe tissue irritation due to the high pH (9-11) of Ganciclovir-Farmex solution.

Do not exceed the recommended dose, frequency or rate of infusion.
