BACTRIM INDICATIONS
infections caused by susceptible to co-trimoxazole microorganisms:
- infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract and ear infections: acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, - pneumonia (including pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis carinii), sinusitis, otitis media;
- genitourinary infections: acute and chronic cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis;
- gastrointestinal tract infections, typhoid and paratyphoid including fever (including treatment of chronic carriers) and cholera (in addition to the recovery of fluid and electrolytes);
- other bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: acute brucellosis, nocardiosis, aktinomitsetoma (excluding caused by these fungi), South American blastomycosis (Paracoccidioides brasiliensis).
When osteomyelitis - as the last line of the drug (for example, if Vancomycin is contraindicated) if proof of the sensitivity of multiresistant pathogens to co-trimoxazole.
APPLICATION
Bactrim administered every 12 hours. Bactrim is best applied after a meal with plenty of fluids. In acute infections, Bactrim should be appointed for a term of not less than 5 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- hypersensitivity to the active substances, to sulfonamides or trimethoprim, or any of the excipients;
- express parenchymal liver disease;
- severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <15 mL / min), if you can not periodically to determine the concentration of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole in the blood plasma;
- megaloblastic anemia caused by folate deficiency;
- immune thrombocytopenia caused by the use of trimethoprim and / or sulfonamides;
- haematological disorders;
- combination with dofetilide.
