AMPICILLINUM Indication
Infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:
- Infection of the biliary system (cholangitis, cholecystitis);
- Respiratory tract infections and upper respiratory tract (pneumonia, bronchitis, lung abscess, sinusitis, pharyngitis, otitis, tonsillitis);
- Meningitis;
- Gastroenteritis caused by salmonella or shigella, typhoid and paratyphoid;
- Bacterial endocarditis;
- Infections of the genitourinary system (pyelitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, gonorrhea);
- Peritonitis;
- Septicemia;
- Infections of skin and soft tissues.
Contraindication
- Increased sensitivity to ampicillin and other β-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins, carbapenems), as well as any auxiliary ingredients.
- Severe hepatic impairment.
- Infectious mononucleosis.
- Leukemia.
- HIV.
Aapplication
Before therapy is necessary to exclude the presence of a patient's hypersensitivity to ampicillin and other β-lactam antibiotics. In the treatment requires systematic monitoring of renal function, liver and peripheral blood picture. In asthma, hay fever and other allergic diseases drug used in conjunction with desensitizing agents. If signs of anaphylaxis should take urgent measures to remove the patient from the condition. Using in high doses, patients with impaired renal function are possible to get toxic effects on the central nervous system.
