Teturam Indications
Alcoholism (prevention of relapse during treatment).
Contraindications
Absolute contraindications: endocrine diseases (hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus); pronounced cardio; atherosclerosis of brain vessels; cardiac ischemia; hypertension stage II-III; severe vascular disease; pulmonary tuberculosis with hemoptysis; recently caused tubercular infiltration; bronchial asthma; severe emphysema; a bleeding stomach ulcer; severe liver and kidney disease; violation of hematopoiesis; mental illness; CNS infections; epilepsy and epileptiform syndrome; polyneuritis; neuritis of the auditory and optic nerves; glaucoma; malignant tumor; during pregnancy; Hypersensitivity to disulfiram.
Relative contraindications: residual effects after organic brain damage; residual effects after central nervous system infections and stroke; age over 60 years; occlusive disease; peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage; previously transferred disulfiramovy psychosis.
Dosage & Administration
Teturam is administered orally. The drug in doses of 150 - 450 mg per day is applied 7 - 10 days. Apply Teturam next morning during breakfast.
After 7 - 10 days from the beginning of the treatment is carried out first of disulfiram-alcohol test: the morning after taking the drug at a dose of 450 - 750 mg of the patient drink 20-30 ml of a 40% solution of ethyl alcohol or vodka or other appropriate alcoholic beverage.
Repeated tests carried out in the hospital after 1 - 2 days on an outpatient basis - 3 - 5 days.
With a weak reaction of the alcohol dose during the subsequent trial raised to 10 - 20 ml. The maximum dose - 100 - 120 ml.
