Ketotifen Indications

Prophylactic treatment of asthma, especially atopic.

Symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ketotifen or any other drug.

Avoid concurrent use of oral ketotifen and antidiabetic drugs (risk of reversible thrombocytopenia) until such time as this phenomenon is not sufficiently understood.

Dosage & Administration

Children from 6 months to 3 years in syrup administered a single dose of 0.25 ml (0.05 mg ketotifen) per 1 kg of body weight; the multiplicity of reception - 2 times a day (morning and evening). The required dose measure using dosing spoon.

For example, a child weighing 10 kg can use 2.5 ml (according to label dosing spoons) syrup 2 times a day (morning and evening meals).

Children aged 3 years to appoint 5 ml / 1 mg ketotifen (1 dosing spoon) syrup 2 times a day (morning and evening during meals).

The therapeutic effect of the drug develops gradually, after 2-4 weeks of treatment, so treatment should be prolonged (2-3 months). Suspend treatment should gradually, within 2-4 weeks, and during this period may have a relapse of symptoms of asthma.
