Haloperidol Indications
- Schizophrenia: treatment of symptoms and prevention of relapse;
- Other psychoses, especially paranoid;
- Mania and Hypomania;
- Mental problems and behavior problems such as aggression, hyperactivity, tendency to self-harm in mentally retarded and in patients with organic brain damage;
- In addition to short-term treatment of psychomotor agitation (moderate to severe) excitement, violent or dangerously impulsive behavior;
- Nausea, vomiting.
Contraindications
Coma. Severe depression of the central nervous system toxic origin (drug or alcohol). Parkinson's disease. Pathological process of localization in the region of the basal ganglia.
Hypersensitivity (allergy) to haloperidol or the excipients of the drug and other derivatives butyrofenonu.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: schizophrenia, psychosis, mania, hypomania, mental problems or behavior problems, psychomotor agitation, excitement, violent or dangerously impulsive behavior, organic brain damage.
To control the restless patients with moderate symptoms: 2-10 mg intramuscularly.
Depending on the response to therapy can be administered following a dose every 4-8 hours, up to 18 mg / day.
Sometimes that patients with severe disorders may require an initial dose of 18 mg.
Nausea, vomiting, 1.2 mg intramuscularly.
Haloperidol-Richter, injection is compatible with:
- 0.9% sodium chloride (a mixture suitable for use within 2 hours);
- Ringer's solution (a mixture suitable for use within 4 hours);
- 5% glucose solution (a mixture suitable for use within 8 hours).
