Digoxin Indications
- congestive heart failure,
- atrial flutter and flicker (to regulate heart rate)
- supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug. endocarditis; Adams-Stokes syndrome Morgagni-; digitalis intoxication drugs used previously; arrhythmia due to intoxication cardiac glycosides; ventricular paroxysmal tachycardia; atrioventricular block II and III degree; marked sinus bradycardia; hypercalcemia; hypokalemia; isolated mitral stenosis; hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy; syndrome carotid sinus; aneurysm of the thoracic aorta; syndrome Wolff-Parkinson-White; the acute phase of myocardial infarction; for additional ways atrioventricular heart; subaortalnyy hypertrophic stenosis; unstable angina; cardiac tamponade; ventricular fibrillation.
Dosage & Administration
Adults for fast digitalization 0.5-1 mg administered internally, and then every 6 hours 0,25-0,75 mg for 2-3 days; after improvement of the patient is transferred to the maintenance dose (0,125-0,5 mg daily for 1-2 receptions). With slow digitization immediately begin treatment with maintenance doses (0,125-0,5 mg per day for 1-2 hours); saturation in this case occurs approximately 1 week after initiation of therapy. The maximum daily dose for adults is 1.5 mg.
Children.
The dose for children is determined individually based on age and body weight.
