Dianormet Indication
Diabetes mellitus type II (insulin) the ineffectiveness of diet therapy, especially in patients with overweight;
- As monotherapy or combination therapy together with other oral hypoglycemic agents or together with insulin to treat adults;
- As monotherapy or combination therapy with insulin for the treatment of children under the age of 10 years.
Reducing complications of diabetes in adult patients with type II diabetes and overweight who used metformin as first-line drug after an ineffective diet.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to metformin or to any excipient, which is part of the preparation.
Diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic prekomy, coma.
Renal failure or renal dysfunction (creatinine clearance less than 60 ml / min).
Acute conditions occurring at risk for impaired renal function:
- Dehydration;
- Severe infections;
- Clinical manifestation of acute and chronic diseases that can lead to the development of tissue hypoxia (cardiac or respiratory failure, recent myocardial infarction, shock);
- Use during the radioisotope or radiological studies with intravascular administration of iodine-containing contrast material.
Liver failure.
Acute alcohol intoxication, alcoholism.
Dosage & Administration
Monotherapy or combination therapy together with other oral hypoglycemic agents.
Adults. Usually starting dose is 500 mg 2-3 times a day during or after meals. After 10-15 days of treatment the dose should be adjusted according to the results of measurements of glucose in the blood serum.
Children. 500 Dianormet drug is used for children under 10 years. Usually starting dose is 500 mg Dianormet 500 1 per day during or after meals. After 10-15 days of treatment the dose should be adjusted according to the results of measurements of glucose in the blood serum.
