Ciprobay Indications
Adults
Lower respiratory tract infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria:
- Exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;
- Broncho-pulmonary infection in cystic fibrosis or in bronchiectasis;
- Pneumonia.
- Chronic suppurative otitis media.
- Exacerbation of chronic sinusitis, especially if it is caused by Gram-negative bacteria.
- Infections of the urinary tract.
Infectious lesions of the reproductive system:
- Gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis caused by susceptible strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Orhoepidydymit, particularly caused by susceptible strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Pelvic inflammatory disease, especially caused by susceptible strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Infections of the gastrointestinal tract (eg travelers diarrhea).
- Intra-abdominal infections.
- Infections of skin and soft tissue caused by Gram-negative bacteria.
- Severe otitis external ear.
- Infections of bones and joints.
- Prevention of invasive infections due to Neisseria meningitidis.
- Pulmonary anthrax (after exposure prevention and radical treatment).
Ciprofloxacin can be used to manage patients with neutropenia and hyperthermia in case of suspicion of bacterial infectious origin fever in this category of patients.
Children and adolescents
- Bronchopulmonary infection in cystic fibrosis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pseudomonas aeruginosa)
- Complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis.
- Pulmonary anthrax (after exposure prevention and radical treatment).
Ciprofloxacin can also be used to treat severe infections in children and adolescents when a doctor deems it necessary.
Treatment should begin a doctor who has experience in treating cystic fibrosis and / or severe infections in children and adolescents (see. Section "Peculiarities of Application" and "Pharmacological properties").
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to other drugs of fluoroquinolones or to any of the excipients of the drug.
Concurrent administration of ciprofloxacin and tizanidine is contraindicated (see. Section "Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction").
