Cefix Indications
- infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:
- acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis;
- pneumonia;
- inflammation of the middle ear;
- pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis and bacterial etiology;
- uncomplicated bacterial infections of the genitourinary system;
- acute intestinal infection.
APPLICATION
Cefixime is administered orally at mealtimes.
The daily dose for adults and children weighing> 50 kg or older than 12 years of age is 400 mg (1 capsule) 1 time per day.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and is determined individually. In infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, therapy should be at least 10 days.
For the treatment of uncomplicated urethral or cervical gonococcal infections recommended single dose of 400 mg.
Impaired renal function. The drug should be used with caution in patients with renal insufficiency. The dose corrected for creatinine clearance. If creatinine clearance of ≥60 mL / minute, unit dose administered; if creatinine clearance 21-60 ml / min or in patients on hemodialysis, - 75% of the standard dose while maintaining the intervals between the application; If creatinine clearance <20 mL / min or patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis, the dose administered ½ standard retaining intervals between use. Neither hemodialysis nor peritoneal dialysis does not remove significant amounts of cefixime from the body.
If necessary, use of the drug at a dose of <400 mg is recommended to prescribe a drug in a different dosage form (eg slurry).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to any component of the product, other cephalosporins or penicillins. Porphyry. Children under the age of 12 years (capsules), up to 6 months (suspension).
