Ketoconazole belongs to a group of medicines called antimycotic(antifungal). Ketoconazole possesses antifungal action. It is effective against dermatophitis, yeast fungus as well as some strains of Gram-positive bacteria. Ketoconazole works by interfering the synthesis of ergosterol, resulting in lysis of mycotic cells. Ketoconazole doesn't change PH and normal bacterial population in the vagina.
INDICATIONS:
Ketoconazole is used to treat vaginitis and vulvovagonitis caused by Candida albicans.
