Bromcriptin Richter Indications
- menstrual disorders and female infertility due to or combined with hyperprolactinemia, including oligo - or amenorrhea in combination with or without galactorrhea;
- insufficiency of luteal phase of the menstrual cycle;
- female infertility that is not caused by hyperprolactinemia, anovulatory cycles (as a complement to therapy with antiestrogens such as clomiphene);
- conditions that require prevention, reduction or cessation of lactation, including postnatal;
- engorgement or mastitis developing;
- micro - and macroadenoma pituitary that produce prolactin (before surgery the drug is used to reduce the size of the tumor and facilitate its removal;
- after surgery if prolactin level in the blood remains elevated);
- acromegaly (as monotherapy — in case of impossibility of surgical intervention or in addition to surgery or radiation treatment);
- idiopathic and developed as a result of encephalitis parkinsonism (monotherapy or in combination with other antiparkinsonian drugs);
- benign breast disease including mastalgia with premenstrual syndrome, or fibromatosis benign cystic breast disease.
Dosage & Administration
The drug is taken orally during meals.
To eliminate the menstrual cycle and treatment of female infertility Bromocriptine is administered in a daily dose of 2.5–3.75 mg (half a tablet 2-3 times a day); if necessary the daily dose is increased in 2 times. Treatment continued until normalization of the menstrual cycle and/or ovulation. In order to consolidate the effect of treatment can continue for several cycles.
For the prevention of physiological lactation Bromocriptine is administered in a daily dose of 5 mg (1 tablet 2 times a day) for 14 days. The drug should be started as early as possible after delivery or abortion, but not earlier than 4 hours after 2-3 days after discontinuation of the drug, a slight secretion of milk, in this case, resume taking Bromocriptine at the same dose for 1 week.
Contradictions
Essential and familial tremor, chorea of Hutchinson, severe cardiovascular disease (including intractable correction AG), endogenous psychosis, toxaemia of pregnancy, hypersensitivity to ergot alkaloids.
