Biprolol Indications

- Hypertension,

- ischemic heart disease (angina),

- congestive heart failure (CHF).

Dosage & Administration

The recommended dose is 5 mg / day (1 to 5 mg tablet).
In Stage II degree (diastolic blood pressure to 105 mm Hg. Art.) At the beginning of treatment may be administered a dose of 2.5 mg / day (1/2 tablets of 5 mg).

As necessary, the daily dose may be increased to 10 mg (1 tablet of 10 mg).
Increasing the dose is permitted only in certain cases.
The maximum daily dose - 20 mg / day.

Patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency. Dose adjustment in patients with impaired mild to moderate hepatic or renal function is generally not required.

Patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <20 mL / min) and / or severely impaired hepatic function, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 10 mg Biprolola.

Elderly patients (unless they have no significant violations of the kidneys or liver function) - dosage of Biprolol adjustment is not normally required, however, this category of patients may exhibit increased sensitivity even to the usual doses of the drug.
The drug is taken one time a day with liquid, with or without food, preferably in the morning. The course of treatment lasting. The duration of therapy depends on the nature and course of the disease.

Do not stop treatment abruptly. This should be done slowly, gradually reducing the dose, particularly in patients with angina, as sudden discontinuation of treatment can lead to a sharp deterioration of the clinical picture.

Contradictions

Hypersensitivity to bisoprolol or other ingredients;
decompensated heart failure in the phase;
cardiogenic shock;
AV-block II and III degree (except in patients with an artificial pacemaker);
sick sinus syndrome;
expressed sinoatrial block;
bradycardia (heart rate <50 beats / min before the start of treatment.);
hypotension (systolic blood pressure below 90 mm Hg..);
severe peripheral circulatory disorders, Raynaud's disease;
severe asthma or COPD;
simultaneous MAO inhibitors (except for MAO-B inhibitors);
combination with floctafenine and sultopride;
metabolic acidosis;
untreated pheochromocytoma;
psoriasis (including family history);
during pregnancy (unless the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus), and breastfeeding;
childhood.
