Abaktal (Abactal) Indications

- urinary tract infections (including prostatitis);

- infections of the respiratory tract (exacerbation of chronic bronchitis and cystophibrosis, hospital pneumonia);

- infections of ENT organs (chronic sinusitis, severe external otitis media);

- abdominal and hepatobiliary infections;

- severe bacterial infections of the digestive tract;

- salmonellosis carriers;

- infections of bones and joints (osteomyelitis caused by gram-negative microorganisms);

- infections of the skin and soft tissues caused by staphylococcus resistant to staphylococcal penicillin;

- sepsis and endocarditis;

- meningitis (if the pathogen is sensitive to pefloxacin);

- gonorrhea;

- prevention of postoperative infections in surgery.

Contradictions

Hypersensitivity to pefloxacin or to any of the excipients and to other quinolones.

Epilepsy, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, severe renal and hepatic impairment, tendon damage induced by the use of fluoroquinolones in the history.

Allergy to wheat (different from celiac disease).

Period of the phase of growth in children (due to the risk of severe arthropathy, especially large joints).

Dosage & Administration

Administered as a slow 1-hour intravenous infusion, at 400 mg every 12 hours. The contents of 1 ampoule of the preparation (equivalent to 400 mg of pefloxacin) are dissolved in 250 ml of a 5% solution of glucose.

Abactal can not be diluted with 0.9% sodium chloride solution or any other solution containing chlorine ions.

For fast creation of effective concentration of pefloxacin in blood plasma at the beginning of treatment, you can enter a loading dose of 800 mg.

For preventive maintenance of infections in surgery it is recommended to introduce 400-800 mg of pefloxacin per

1 hour before surgery.

The maximum daily dose is 1200 mg.
